Getting Started

Welcome to the CompassForecasting documentation! This guide will help you install the add-on and connect it to your Xero organization.

1. Installation

You can install CompassForecasting directly from the Google Workspace™ Marketplace.

  1. Navigate to the marketplace listing.
  2. Click Install.
  3. Grant the required permissions for the add-on to run within your Google Sheets™.

Note: We only request the minimum permissions necessary to interact with your spreadsheet and connect to external APIs (like Xero).

2. Opening the Add-on

Once installed, open any Google Sheet™.

  1. In the top menu, click Extensions > CompassForecasting > Open Sidebar.
  2. The sidebar will appear on the right side of your screen.

3. Connecting to Xero

Even if your company is new and has no actuals, you must connect to Xero. This allows CompassForecasting to securely import your Chart of Accounts and configure the necessary settings to build your forecast.

  1. In the sidebar, click the Connect to Xero button.
  2. You will be redirected to Xero’s secure login page.
  3. Authenticate and select the organization you wish to connect.
  4. Once connected, your Chart of Accounts and recent actuals will automatically sync to a new hidden sheet.
